REPORTS TO : Quality Lead

SUPERVISES : N / A

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Ensure compliance to the Quality Document Control processes and procedures
  • Retrieve documents from several facilities on the Austal campus.
  • File documents (hardcopy) in the designated location.
  • Scan and save documents (PDF) in the designated locations—network drives.
  • Maintain inventory levels for the Quality tool cabinet. Order items as needed.
  • Responsible for tracking results for the Welder certification process.
  • Responsible for tracking surveys through approval process.
  • Responsible for interfacing with internal and external customers.
  • Consult with Production and Quality liaison personnel to resolve discrepancies.
  • Assist in tracking production metrics.
  • Compile and maintain various required metric documentation.
  • This position description is not intended to be all-inclusive and employee will also perform other tasks as assigned.
  • Complies with Austal’s employee handbook general guidelines, company procedures and policies.

QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE :

  • Associate Degree from an accredited college required.
  • Two (2) years’ equivalent experience in Document Control will be considered in lieu of degree requirement.
  • Excellent time management skills required.
  • Excellent written and oral skills required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel required.
  • Strong organizational skills required.
  • Ability to analyze issues and suggest solutions required.
  • Working knowledge of Power Point and Access preferred.

    LIAISES WITH : Production departments, Foreman, Managers, Training Leads, Regulatory Body and Customer

    ADDITIONAL GUIDELINES :

  • Candidates must meet the following employment eligibility guidelines to be considered for employment with Austal USA :
  • 18 years of age or older at time of application
  • Able to provide proof of US Person Status
  • No felony convictions of Theft / Deception or Violent crimes within seven years from disposition date
  • No felony convictions of Drug crimes within three years from disposition date
  • Willing to submit to a drug screen
  • Willing to submit to a background check
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to humid conditions, bright flashing lights, moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, outside weather conditions, and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes and / or airborne particles at or below the PEL, toxic or caustic chemicals, and heat and cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud, 90 dB.
