Summary
The Safety Manager establishes and upholds a secure work environment for all Austin Engineering, USA Inc. employees, contract employees, and visitors. This position encompasses diverse responsibilities including ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations, accurate record keeping, developing policies and procedures, and providing safety education and training. Must provide strong leadership to support the
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Anticipate and identify potential safety hazards and risks and promptly addressing employee safety concerns by working closely with Plant Manager, Supervisors and Leads to develop and implement solutions
Assist in developing and implementing safety policies and procedures, programs, and guidelines ensuring all government rules and regulations are followed
Investigate accidents, incidents and near miss events to determine cause, implement corrective measures to prevent recurrence ensuring all proper documentation and reporting is complete
Provide safety orientation to new hire employees and contract employees
Develop and perform safety education and trainings including presentations, documentation and forms
Create schedules for team members
Ensure all tasks are being completed in a timely manner
Delegate workload efficiently
Approve weekly timecards, time off requests
Work closely with HR regarding worker’s comp, etc.
Requirements:
Leadership
Minimum Degree in Occupational Safety and Health preferred
5 years working in production or construction
Knowledge of Welding and Fabrication preferred
Bilingual preferred
Must be willing to work days, nights and/or weekends
Prior experience as a Safety Supervisor or similar role preferred
Knowledge of OSHA, Wyoming Worker’s Compensation and other government agencies reporting requirements and other rules and regulations pertaining to the manufacturing industry
