Position Description
The Facilities Coordinator is responsible for maintaining the quality, efficiency, and timeliness of building systems and maintenance needs of the Austin Humane Society’s facilities, grounds, vehicles and operations.
Responsibilities
Sanitation and Cleanliness & General Maintenance
The Facilities Coordinator is responsible for ensuring common areas and restrooms are cleaned and monitored on a daily basis and will perform designated janitorial tasks at all AHS locations. These duties will include but are not limited to ensuring windows, walls, bathrooms, kitchen and shared breakroom areas all kept clean and sanitary as well as carpets vacuumed and the floors at the shelter are cleaned and buffed regularly. Restock supplies as needed for bathroom and employee lounge. Additionally there will be weekly and monthly projects like floor shining, replacing air filters and washing the chiller. This position ensures proper sanitation of all areas of the shelter and facility grounds. Some small repairs and general knowledge of building maintenance is required.
Safety and Security
Reporting to the Director of Facilities, this position will assist with the safety and security of the AHS facilities as well as staff, employees and the public. This includes but is not limited to working knowledge of safe usage of hazardous chemicals, tools and other safety regulations. This position alternates as a contact for the alarm system and responds to calls as necessary every other week.
Customer Experience
This Facilities Coordinator ensures exemplary customer experience for all who interact with the Austin Humane Society in any capacity. This includes but is not limited to maintaining the aesthetics and safety of the facility, providing quality customer service, and maintaining strong positive working relationships with staff, volunteers, vendors and other organizations in the community.
Inventory/Supplies/Equipment
The Facilities Coordinator communicates to the Director of Facilities the need to order supplies for all facility related needs including but not limited to cleaning supplies, janitorial supplies, paper products, hand sanitizer, maintenance supplies, and kitchen supplies.
As with any highly integrated organization, other duties may be required to support the overall mission and strategic objectives of the agency. Other specific duties may not be expressly stated in this job description; however, duties may fall under one’s responsibility if assigned in order to maintain the operations of the organization.
Technology & Communication
The Facilities Coordinator will be responsible for managing communications, including responding to emails, scheduling meetings, and addressing in-house messages promptly. Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook is required, along with access to a reliable mobile phone for work-related tasks.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate for this position will have two years’ experience in a facility-related field with a focus on custodian and facilities maintenance duties. Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and ability to handle heavy equipment & machinery. Candidates must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently on multiple projects simultaneously. On call status and after-hours fire, security and disaster work are required as needed.
