What are the responsibilities and job description for the Students Ministry Director position at Austin Stone?
Summary
As part of the Students team at The Austin Stone Community Church, the Students Ministry Director will be responsible for implementing ministry within a congregation that is consistent with the Austin Stone Students ministry strategies. This will include leading and executing the day-to-day ministry, Sunday execution, relationship development, central events / trips, congregation-wide events, and ensuring the students ministry budget is effectively utilized. The Students Ministry Director will report to the Executive Pastor or Operations Director at their congregation.
Essential Responsibilities
- Provide oversight for and ensure Sunday gathering environments are prepared and delivered with excellence.
- Lead, plan, and facilitate flourishing Disciple Communities (DCOMM).
- Promote value and practice for missional outreach within Students ministry through teaching, encouragement and discipleship; partnering with area schools, community organizations, people and resources.
- Responsible for leading, recruiting, equipping, ongoing spiritual formation, and pastoral care of leaders for Sundays, DCOMMs and Students Ministry.
- Ensure the faithful execution of policies and volunteer screening / onboarding in accordance with church safety policies.
- Develop parent and student relationships, maintaining communication, providing continuing education, encouragement and training.
- Develop and oversee a Resident / Intern development plan that aligns with the Central Students Ministry Director
- Plan and execute leader retreats, congregation trips and events, and central gatherings, trips and events, seeking unity and the good of the team.
- Collaborate with congregation leadership and provide timely and effective communication.
- Maintain records and manage ministry budget.
- Attend and participate in all required events and activities for The Austin Stone, including all Sunday services (including major holidays), staff meetings, prayer meetings, special events, Central Students Ministry events, continuing education events, training opportunities, etc.

Competencies
Administration - Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and implement ministry programming. Integrate multiple perspectives and synthesize them into a cohesive plan. Strong ability to support multiple projects simultaneously, with dependability and excellence.
Communication - Has clarity of speech and proper use of grammar. Demonstrated capacity to inspire, instruct, and encourage through effective communication in various settings. Able to communicate and work within a complex organizational structure with multiple layers of input.
Detail Oriented & Organizational Skills - Proven skills in creating, implementing, maintaining, and following through on processes that ensure people are engaged, cared for, informed and connected. Ability to coordinate multiple projects and tasks simultaneously. Able to create and manage a ministry budget. Able to successfully develop new and better ways to work and promotes a continuous improvement mentality.
Leadership Development - Skilled at multiplying effective ministry leaders who can communicate and uphold the values of The Austin Stone. Ability to lead, recruit, resource, and mobilize volunteer teams to scale. Ability to recruit, manage, and lead resident / intern teams. Ability to engage, interact with, teach, equip, and train 6th-12th grade students. Able to teach and to generate content and curriculum.
Collaborative Leadership - Strong complementary leadership skills in relation to the rest of the congregation staff team and an ability to lead in concert with other leaders. Ability to integrate multiple perspectives and synthesize them into a cohesive plan.
