Description
Bends and shapes various industrial metal parts using a hydraulic press brake.

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reviews technical drawings to understand parts to be manufactured.
- Selects the required tooling to bend and shape cut metal to customer’s drawing.
- Determines tool positioning to obtain the required bend and installs tooling.
- Sets press brake to accurately manufacture parts.
- Can program press brake to suit optimal bending operations.
- Makes test bends using drops to verify and correct any programming errors.
- Understands manufacturing tolerances and examines finished work to ensure quality parts.
- Maintains a clean and tidy work area.
- May need to assist laser operator as work schedule allows.
- Interface with sales department as required to develop proposals, manufacturing engineering department to develop routes and tooling requirements as applicable, and programming department to develop flats from bent parts.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to read, comprehend, and follow internal and customer technical documents.
- Consults with manufacturing engineering department to appropriately program the press brake.
- Understand brake performance based on material type and thickness, angle tolerances, and blank sizes.
- Knowledge of various tooling.
- Run bend and forming operations using standard and custom tooling and brake machine.
- Perform both visual and dimensional inspections to quality standards.
- Check height, depth, and other tolerances using calipers, gauges, tape measure and protractor.
- Stand for long periods, lift up to 50lbs and bend and stoop.
- Dexterity and foot, hand and eye coordination.
- 1-3 years previous experience with press brake operations.
