Cook Helper

Description :

Cook helper will learn to assist in the process of cooking various products prior to being considered a qualified, skilled cook. Maintains safety and sanitation standards in the preparation and cooking areas.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Raw meat products put in oven (Lead Cook will decide what product will be cook first)
• Learns to read and understand the process of the cooked beef lot report forms
• Prepares and cooks products in accordance with company production records and standardized recipes
• Learns to adjust thermostat controls to regulate temperature of ovens and steam kettles
• Helps measure and mix ingredients according to recipes using a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment
• Roasts, broils and steam meats under guidance
• Adds seasoning to food during mixing or cooking under the instruction of others
• Checks and records temperatures of products to determine that it is cooked
• Remove all carts from ovens : start placing pans (caution HOT) on steels tables
• Remove beef from pans with utensils to a clean cart holder : once done put carts in the chilling room
• Juice in pans from the beef is pour into barrels (Lead Cook will continue the process)
• Barrels need to be tagged with amount of juice and lot number and put aside for gravy room
• Maintains work area and equipment clean
• Follows principles of sanitation and safety in handling food and equipment
• Ensures compliance with company service standards and inventory procedures
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Employees must follow the company policy on Food Safety, Sanitation and GMP

Additional Info : PREFERRED SKILLS

LANGUAGE ABILITY : Ability to comprehend basic verbal and written instructions. Ability to distinguish and identify different products by reading labels.

MATH ABILITY : Ability to count to 60. Ability to do simple addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Ability to write numbers legibly.

REASONING ABILITY : Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables unstandardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continuously required to stand or walk, and to reach with hands and arms. Manual dexterity and utilization of both hands and all fingers is required. The employee is frequently required to twist, bend. The employee must frequently lift and / or move up to 50 pounds with the aid of a team member. The employee must occasionally push / pull manual or occasionally expected to push / pull equipment on wheels up 25 to 50 pounds
