Description
The Payroll Specialist II will process payroll, maintain employee records, and work on configuration projects with our partners in HR and Finance.
Essential Functions
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.
- Enters, maintains, and/or processes information in the payroll system; information may include employees’ hourly rates, salaries, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, address changes, and other information.
- Ensures proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, garnishments, and other deductions.
- Maintain ACA across companies along with expenses.
- Issues physical or replacement checks or direct deposits due to payroll errors or final discharge.
- Performs other duties as assigned which may include working on audits and reporting.
- Assist employees with Paylocity user access and respond to pay inquiries.
- Assist with system configuration projects between Finance and HR.
- Provide backup to other payroll team members as needed and assist with benefit reconciliations.
Competencies
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software is a must.
- Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll software.
- Ability to work independently.
Meeting Expectations
Attend payroll department meetings as required using Teams with camera on and participating.
Work Environment
This position operates in the Bedford NH office and has the opportunity for some remote work with proven ability.
Physical Demands
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Five years of experience processing payroll preferred.
- Experience with processing payroll using Paylocity preferred.
- Solid foundation in payroll taxes and reporting.
Additional Requirements
- Employees in this role are considered essential workers as part of the critical infrastructure.
- No prior criminal history.
- Ability to utilize technology.
- Competent computer skills- Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office, Windows, Excel
