Summary
The Mechanical Assembler will be responsible for assembling gate operators and related components, ensuring high-quality standards and adherence to safety protocols. This role includes stock job tasks to maintain inventory levels and facilitate efficient production processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
• Assembles component parts, subassemblies, and electrical equipment in gate operators with nuts, bolts and screws.
• Uses hand and power tools to assemble units according to work order.
• Cuts and terminates wires.
• Tests and calibrates parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product specifications.
• Identifies units that fail tests and/or tolerance levels and repairs as necessary.
• Performs interdepartmental QC checks (this includes assembled operators and stock parts) sign off is required.
• Maintains UL log for Hi-Pot testing.
• Follows all assembly procedures per UL standards.
• Completely reviews work order.
• Prepares work area for component parts to be built.
• Assembles Control Boxes
• Assembles A/C Electrical Boxes
• Assembles Transformers.
• Assembles Motor Bracket Sub-Assemblies.
• Assembles Motor Bracket Assemblies
• Must have all stock parts inspected and signed off
• Selects correct operator frame from staging area (correct hand and arm configuration).
• Assembles and aligns bullwheel and auxiliary bullwheel to frame.
• Assembles motor to bracket and install the assembly in the operator frame.
• Installs drive belts around pulleys and adjust to proper tension.
• Sets operator arm in correct relationship to the operator frame.
• Locates and attaches wire ties to frame.
• Must have gate operator inspected and signed off prior to advancing to next step
• Setup and installs control box and related wires on operator frame.
• Assembles, installs, and pulls extension springs.
• Installs required accessories.
• Tests electrical and drive systems, troubleshoots and repairs (as needed/required)
• Installs auxiliary kit (as needed/required)
• Tests auxiliary electrical system, troubleshoots and repairs (as needed/required)
• Participates in additional training (as needed/required)
• Must have gate operator inspected and signed off prior to handing off to the next department
• Follows all safety rules for the Mechanical Assembly Department and AutoGate
• Maintains a clean and safe work environment free of trash and debris.
• Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or three to six months related experience and/or training in similar environment. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Average to above written and oral communication skills, ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Must be able to read tape measure to 32nds of an inch. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
