Responsibilities
- Be very competent in the operation of all types of production equipment in the Machine Shop, with very little supervision.
- Apply knowledge of mechanics and shop mathematics, part layout, and machining procedures as necessary for basic shop operations.
- Be competent in the use of various measuring equipment in order to perform inspections and evaluations of finished parts.
- Coordinate his or her work in an organized manner which will allow timely completion of jobs in order to meet customer due dates.
- Work in a safe manner using required personal protective equipment while following the established safety polices for the shop and facility.
- Be fairly familiar in the concepts of quality systems as they apply to the Machinist's position.
- Have the authority to stop any process in the system as a means of correcting critical problems that adversely affect product quality or customer satisfaction.
- Be expected to effectively and professionally communicate, verbally and in written form, with management and other co-workers in order to perform the duties of this position.
- Understand the basic operations of the Machine Shop including process flow and work organization.
- Openly exchange technical information and ideas with the Shop Supervisor and other shop personnel.
- Be involved with hands-on participation regarding inspection activities, and various types of data collection in the Machine Shop.
- Utilize metrics and other technical data as applicable in an effort to continuously improve and streamline the Machine Shop's operations.
- Be thoroughly familiar with, understand, and assist implementation of all of the company business policies as assigned to the Machine Shop in order to support and enhance the working environment.
- Set up machines and other equipment as necessary to produce parts.
- Troubleshoot machining problems, including part machining difficulties and machine operations.
- Understand job travelers and associated customer order information.
- Read and interpret various types of part prints and understand dimensional tolerances.
- Fabricate, assemble, and modify tooling, such as jigs and fixtures to produce parts and assemblies.
- Complete reports and record operational data as necessary.
- Operate various types of material handling equipment including forklift trucks, jib cranes, pallet jacks, etc.
- Be able to manually lift and handle parts and equipment up to 35 lbs.
- Perform and document preventive maintenance on various equipment as assigned by the Shop Supervisor.
- Minimum 5 Year’s Experience
- Experience on Mazak Quick Turn
- Proficient in the use of Mazatrol Programming
- Looking for hard worker with good work ethics
- Must be able to pass physical/drug screen
