Position Overview :
The Head of Accounting and HR is a critical leadership role responsible for managing both financial operations and human resources for our fast-growing startup. Reporting directly to the COO, you will ensure financial accuracy, regulatory compliance, and a strong, people-first workplace culture. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on, dynamic environment and enjoys balancing strategic planning with day-to-day execution. You’ll have the opportunity to shape financial strategy, optimize HR processes, and contribute to the overall success of our company. This is an in-person role at our offices in downtown Waltham—because we can’t build robots remotely!
Key Responsibilities :
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial reporting
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, audits, and other financial reporting requirements
- Manage cash flow and expense control, ensuring financial health and sustainability
- Support fundraising and investor relations by preparing financial models and reports as needed
- Implement and maintain accounting systems and processes to scale with company growth
- Own and manage company insurance policies, ensuring appropriate coverage and compliance with legal and business requirements
- Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership and employees on HR policies, conflict resolution, and best practices
- Own payroll ensuring timely and accurate payments while maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations
- Manage employee benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and leave policies
- Manage the annual performance review and goal-setting process
- Foster a culture of inclusivity, collaboration, and professional growth
- Ensure compliance with labor laws and HR regulations
