What are the responsibilities and job description for the GAP Claims Adjuster position at AUTOMOBILE PROTECTION CORPORATION?
Summary
The GAP/ETCH Claims Department is responsible for administering APCO’s GAP Deficiency Waiver Addendum and GAP Insurance Policy programs. These products are designed to assist customers in the event their vehicle is declared a total loss, but the insurance settlement is not enough to cover the loan balance owed on the vehicle. The department is also responsible for administering claims for APCO’s ETCH Registration and Warranty products, which are designed to be a theft deterrent.
The GAP Claims Adjuster reviews loan and insurance documentation details to determine if there exists a loan balance eligible to be waived for GAP claims. The Claims Adjuster also determines if coverage is applicable under an ETCH Registration and Warranty, as well as field ACD calls regarding the programs and claim processes, and entry of documentation received into the GAP claims system for both programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Insurance license/background, compliance, or claims handling experience is preferred but not required
- Knowledge of GAP and/or Insurance Claims processes
- MUST be able to handle up to 60 calls per day
- MUST be able to work 1 hour of overtime (when needed)
- MUST be punctual with Excellent attendance
- MUST be able to work 9-6 M-F
- Insurance license/background, compliance, or claims handling experience is preferred but not required
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 – 3 years’ experience in a call center with proven ability to multitask.
Skills
- Computer literate with experience working with Microsoft programs such as Outlook, Word and Excel
- Familiarity of vehicle loan processes
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong data entry/typing/10-key skills
- Time management and organization skills
- Excellent customer service skills as well as written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to type, wear a headset and required to look at a computer for long periods of the day. The employee must be able to sit for long periods of the day as well.
