TRACK CONTROL DISPATCHER
JOB DESCRIPTION
Under the general direction of the Operations Manager, the Dispatcher will be in the Track Safety Team, at the Continental Tire the America’s, LLC Evaluation Center Uvalde (UPG). They will monitor and answers radio calls in the track control center and surveils camera views. Dispatches and communicates by radio and telephone with mobile units and support teams from various departments and customer groups. Monitors and responds to three (3) radio frequencies. Performs administrative and clerical duties required for reporting and record keeping. Performs other related duties as required by the Track Management Section Leader.
Essential Job Functions
- Operates various types of equipment such as: radio, telephone, computer, and other systems.
- Monitors and answers multiple radio channels communicating with various units (from various departments and customer groups) entering and exiting test courses.
- Monitors and ensures compliance with applicable track safety policies and procedures maintaining safe testing operations.
- Coordinates and issues instructions to various units and personnel during emergency and non-emergency situations.
- Obtains appropriate and necessary information from units during incidents and carries out situational assessment to determine the proper response according to safety procedures.
- Coordinates and directs support teams to assist units during calls and tracking the status of calls.
- Communicates in a calm and professional manner in both normal and high stress situations.
- Relays important facility-wide radio announcements and alerts (e.g., weather, emergency, etc.).
- Requires ability to shovel, rake and handle other small tools.
- Cleans and inventories equipment as needed.
- Assists in the placement, moving and dismantling of signs, barricades, cones and other traffic control devices.
- Performs at scene traffic alignment and movement by signaling units.
- Provides data input into computer call logs, maintains, and disseminates daily operations records.
- Performs other department processes that support the Track Management function which include inventories, vehicle checks, vehicle run-ins, test course checks, in-field supporting tasks, etc.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be able to type 45 WPM or more.
- Must be able to use standard office equipment, such as computers, printers, copiers, and phones.
- Must possess the fundamental abilities needed to use a computer to perform tasks – these tasks include using applications, printing, navigating files, and communicating through email and instant messaging.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office 365.
- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to clearly speak, read, and write the English language in a clear and understandable manner.
- Must be able to communicate with co-workers and customers in a courteous, professional manner.
- Must be able to be composed with presence of mind in stressful situations.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Previous work as a Public Safety Telecommunicator (“9-1-1 operator”) or Air Traffic Controller
- Ability to Learn, Understand, and Demonstrate skills learned during training on a consistent basis.
