As the Mechatronics Development (Dev) Manager, you will direct the work of engineers to ensure the best practices around mechatronics system design and development. You will oversee your team's day-to-day responsibilities in designing, building, testing, deploying, maintaining, and supporting mechatronic systems and components that integrate mechanical, electrical, and software engineering principles. You will ensure that project and department milestones and goals are met while staying within approved budgets. Additionally, you will work to establish functional requirements, design specifications, and review solutions to ensure that organizational needs are met.
You will evaluate and resolve technical feasibility, design optimization, and production issues. In collaboration with your team and other departments, you will establish strategies for design, technology, product development, and vendors. You will also be responsible for modifying existing mechatronic systems that may contain errors or require upgrades. A strong technical background in mechanical, electrical, and software engineering is essential to succeed in this role.
Effective communication will be crucial, as you will need to collaborate with customers, engineering staff, and other departments. In some cases, you will assign tasks to engineers. You will typically report to top management and will need a deep understanding of departmental processes to excel in this position.
Responsibilities:

Act as a resource for engineers on policies, procedures, and technical issues related to mechanical, electrical, and software integration.

Plan, direct, and coordinate all activities related to the development of mechatronic systems.

Plan, direct, and coordinate the daily activities of the mechatronics development department/group/team.

Hire, review, and terminate non-management employees as needed.

Ensure the team adheres to industry best practices and company standards for mechatronics development.

Oversee integration of various subsystems (mechanical, electrical, and software) to ensure seamless operation.

Evaluate and optimize designs for manufacturability, performance, cost, and reliability.

Provide leadership and mentorship to team members, ensuring their continuous development and alignment with organizational goals.
Required Qualifications:

5 years of individual contributor experience as a Mechatronics Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Robotics Engineer, or other related engineering fields.

A Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.

Comprehensive knowledge of mechatronics principles, including mechanical design, electrical systems, control systems, and embedded software.

Proficiency in CAD tools for mechanical design (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and simulation software.

Experience with embedded systems programming and software development, including proficiency in C, C , or similar languages.

Familiarity with control systems design, sensor integration, and robotics is highly desirable.

Experience with Agile or other project management methodologies.

Strong project management skills, particularly with complex cross-disciplinary projects.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interface with stakeholders at all levels.
Desired Qualifications:
