SUMMARY
The Finance Business Partner, Merchandising, is responsible for providing financial guidance, leadership, partnership and support to the Merchandise business unit. This position is responsible for advising Merchandising leadership on all decisions having a financial impact to the Merchandising organization and providing feedback and supporting analysis to support the decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
· Responsible for the development, analysis and interpretation of accounting information to appraise the operational results of the Merchandising Team in terms of cost, policies, trends and increased profit possibilities.
· Lead the Merchandising Finance Business Partner team in closing the books for the Merchandising and Content areas each period. Review and approve associated period journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
· Review and assess adequacy of key reserves including Vendor Funding, Warranty and Merchandise Valuation.
· Provide Weekly Forecast Updates on Merch overhead cost centers and non-category level vendor funding, including all key reserve adjustments
· Partner with the Merch analysis team in preparing Plan and LE updates
· Provide strategic direction on key KPI’s for Merchandising
· Partner with other Finance Business Partners on strategies and accounting considerations to ensure strategic plan is achieved.
· Mentor, coach and develop the Merchandise Finance team through cross training, establishment of objectives, communication of policies and procedures, and constructive feedback. Develop a succession plan for all key roles.
· Interact frequently with the Vendor Community, Category Teams and Merchandise Leadership teams.
· Accommodate internal and external audit requests
· Other key responsibilities as identified
Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, with a minimum of five years relevant experience. Master’s Degree and/or CPA preferred.
· 5 years Management experience
· Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills
· Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and SQL
· Strong procedure development and implementation skills, and demonstrated process improvement ability
· Ability to manage competing priorities and meet constant deadlines.
· Ability to work collaboratively across department functions
· Excellent Communication Skills (Written & Verbal).
