Key Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during urgent care examinations, diagnostic procedures, and surgeries.
- Monitor anesthesia and provide advanced nursing care to surgical and hospitalized patients.
- Administer medications, vaccinations, IV fluids, and other prescribed treatments.
- Perform and interpret diagnostic tests, including bloodwork, radiographs, and urinalysis.
- Manage emergency situations with precision and composure.
- Educate pet owners on aftercare, wellness, and treatment plans.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using veterinary software.
- Ensure the hospital is stocked with necessary supplies and equipment.
- Maintain a clean and sterile environment for patient safety.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Veterinary Technician in an urgent care or emergency setting.
- Certification as a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) or Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in emergency procedures, including anesthesia monitoring, IV catheter placement, and advanced patient care.
- Strong skills in phlebotomy, laboratory testing, and radiology.
- Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Outstanding communication skills, both with pet owners and the veterinary team.
- Proficiency in veterinary software; experience with Cornerstone is a big plus.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays (hospital hours: Mon-Sun, 8:00 AM–10:00 PM).
