Summary

Assists withthe delivery of care to patients. Works with patient care team to ensure theefficient flow of patients throughout their visit, providing support to them aswell as to the supervising physician.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Takingnotes during patient visits and documenting them in the electronic healthrecords system.
  • Learningabout the medical process and using a team approach with patient documentation.
  • Workingwith a Physician to complete medical records.
  • Communicatingwith patients and Physicians professionally.
  • Handlingall patient calls, refill request, all clinic duties with in timely matter.
  • Helpingelectronically prescribe medication for patients.
  • Coordinatesphysicians procedure schedule by scheduling cases appropriately based onsurgeon, case length, and day of week.

Professional Requirements

  • Meets dress code standards andadheres to dress code policy.
  • Completes annual education requirements.
  • Maintains regulatoryrequirements.
  • Maintains patientconfidentiality at all times.
  • Reports to work on time and asscheduled, completes work within designated time.
  • Wears identification while onduty, uses computerized punch time system correctly.
  • Completes in-services andreturns in a timely fashion.
  • Attends annual review,department in-services, staff meetings and / or reviews all monthly staff meetingminutes per HealthStream.
  • Represents the organization in apositive and professional manner.
  • Actively participates inperformance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.
  • Complies with all organizationalpolicies regarding ethical business practices.
  • Communicates the mission, ethics,and goals of the hospital, as well as the focus statement of the department.
  • Promotes professional growth ofsubordinates by sharing knowledge and / or directing them to sources ifinformation appropriate to given situation. Utilizes journals, books, etc. to learn and / or improve new techniquesand equipment.
  • Assists other staff members inperforming any duty that enhances the delivery of patient care.
  • Regulatory Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Current BLS certification
  • Minimum of six (6) months to one (1) year ofrelated work experience.
  • Pain management experience required.
  • Skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English,both verbally and in writing.
  • Basiccomputer knowledge.
  • Physical Demands

Whileperforming the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talkand hear. This position is very active and requires repetitive motions,standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping all day. The employee mustfrequently lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
