About Our Art Program
Avalon offers Art Programs for tenants and is seeking volunteers to facilitate weekly one-hour art sessions on Monday - Friday afternoons, sometime between 1:00 and 4:00 PM.
The Art Program Volunteer would be passionate about serving Avalon's community, have specific projects in mind, and would help the tenants with their project. The Volunteer would help set up for the weekly session and clean up afterwards.
Core Responsibilities Include:
- Set-Up:
- Making sure the table is covered
- Filling water containers for paint brushes
- During:
- Monitoring, supplying, and organizing art supplies
- Communicating with Avalon staff on which art supplies stock and which are needed in advance of each art session
- Setting up project materials for tenants when they arrive
- Helping guide and assist tenants with projects as needed
- Clean-Up:
- Wiping down tables
- Dumping paint water
- Sweeping
- Mopping
- Breaking down supplies
- Securing premises and general closing
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Ability to effectively work with diverse populations in a non-judgmental way
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Must possess a highly positive and enthusiastic attitude and strong commitment toward helping those in need
- Minimum 3-month commitment preferred
Physical Demands:
Volunteers may need to lift and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.

- Any day Monday through Friday 1 PM - 4 PM
- Miller Manor (727 Miller Ave, Ann Arbor, MI 48103)
- Mondays 12 PM - 3:30 PM
- Wednesdays 12 PM - 3:30 PM
Compensation: This is an unpaid and voluntary role. However, any direct and approved expenses related to the role will be reimbursed.
