Avalon Medical Group serves communities in Suffolk, Rockland, Orange, Dutchess, Ulster, and Sullivan counties. Avalon Medical Group is currently seeking a full-time Medical Assistant at our brand-new state of the art multi-specialty practice in New Windsor, New York.
A Medical Assistant aids patients and the clinical team at the health center in support of medical care as directed by the nursing and medical staff and pursuant to the objectives and policies of the facility. This position performs job duties in compliance with systems and job specific standards and additional jobs or duties assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Completes the rooming process and takes vital signs, vision, record patient data in eClinicalWorks, (laboratory results, pain level, PEAS, PhQ, Smoke status, etc.). Document reason for visit.
- Perform in-house labs, perform quality control and maintenance of equipment in accordance with organizational protocols.
- Collects specimens as directed by providers and processes accordingly for out-side labs (i.e., urine, cultures, etc.).
- Prepare exam room and any needed equipment and assists/chaperones during examination and treatment of patients.
- Keeps clinical area stocked and in good order. Assures that all dated material is kept current and disposes of outdated supplies.
- Cleans and sterilizes all equipment and logs according to organizational policy and/or manufactures guidelines.
- Perform basic clerical work in service area; answer phones in appropriate manner, communicate problems/concerns to nurse; handle telephone inquiries.
Experience/ Requirements:
· High School diploma/ GED with Medical Assistant Training Certificate
· Preferred Education Requirement: Associate degree with Medical Assistant Training Certificate
· Preferred Related Work Experience: 2 years of relevant experience
· Knowledge of eClinicalWorks required.
