Job Description:
Pay/Salary: $22.00, based on experience
Shift and Schedule: 1st shift, Sunday – Thursday, 4:00am – 1:00pm
Position Overview:
As Dispatcher for Avalon Transportation, you are a key role player in ensuring on-time pickup of all customers and maintaining real-time awareness of vehicle locations. You’ll keep the dispatch screen updated and communicate up-to-the-minute changes to drivers and relevant team members. Your role includes overseeing vehicle check-ins and check-outs, and handling customer calls and road, vehicle and driver issues. Excellent customer service skills, effective communication, and the ability to multitask in a busy environment are essential. Your familiarity with airports, hotels, and entertainment venues, along with significant dispatch and customer service experience will help you excel in delivering the best possible Customer and Driver experiences.
Responsibilities:
- Act as primary liaison between Operations and Maintenance
- Schedule Drivers and Vehicles
- Communicate with Drivers regarding schedule, vehicle assignment, and customer needs
- Verify Hours of Service and Fit for Duty Requirements
- Record on-time, tardiness, call-offs, and operator issues
- Coordinate last minute changes with Sales, Maintenance and Drivers
- Solve daily issues with schedule changes, driver issues, traffic, and bus conditions
- Provide concierge-grade customer service to customers
- Update and monitor GPS route/equipment status
- Monitor on-time performance
- Audit Driver credentials logs
Qualifications:
- Experience in the transportation industry or relevant training. Experience in the Charter bus industry a plus!
- Knowledge of safety rules, Hours of Service, federal and state regulations for commercial transportation
- Minimum 1-year experience dispatching in the transportation industry
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize work
- Ability to understand the cause/effect of decisions and how they impact the operation
- Available on weekends, holidays, days and nights, and work flexible shifts
- Exemplary communication and customer service skills
- Knowledgeable in data entry, internet usage, email, Microsoft Office and web-based routing/GPS platforms
- CDL License Required
