Job Description
The Senior Traffic Engineer will oversee traffic analysis, traffic operations design, traffic studies, and road safety evaluations. This role requires effective supervision and collaboration with cross-discipline teams, prioritizing tasks, and delivering results in a constantly changing environment. The successful candidate will work closely with Project Managers to produce documentation and construction plans for signing and pavement marking, signalization, lighting, ITS, and/or traffic study projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead standalone traffic engineering projects or contribute to larger projects with minimal supervision.
- Mentor junior engineers in their tasks, ensuring their growth and development.
- Perform or oversee all aspects of traffic design, including signing and pavement marking, signalization, lighting, ITS, and/or traffic study documentation and plans.
- Prepare final design plans, specifications, and studies associated with traffic analysis.
- Conduct field duties outside the office to support project data collection.
- Participate in marketing and business development efforts, attending client meetings as needed.
- Assist in training and developing junior engineers and designers.
- Collaborate with Senior Engineers/Project Managers on various project tasks.
Qualifications
- 15-20 years of experience in traffic design.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Civil Engineering (FL).
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering.
- Traffic Analysis and Transportation Planning skills.
- Traffic Studies and Road Safety expertise.
- Traffic Operations Design Experience (Experience with traffic signal timing and intelligent transportation systems is a plus).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in transportation engineering software such as OpenRoads, Synchro, VISSIM, HCS, and SimTraffic.
- Familiarity with Traffic Design Manuals such as MUTCD, Highway Capacity Manual, and FDOT Design Manuals.
