Description:
To perform direct care duties under the supervision of licensed nursing personnel and to assist in maintaining a postive physical, social and psychological evironment for the residents.
Responsibilities for the CNA are :
Assist residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, dental care, bowel and bladder functions, preparation for medical tests and exams, ear and eye care and positioning in and out of beds, chairs, etc. Performs patient related activities directed throughout the shift including assisting with lifts of patients to mats, tilt tables, & wheelchairs, assists patients in transfer activities, assists patients in dinning & removing appliances, and guards patients in ambulation.
1. Provide nursing functions as directed by Nurse Manager including daily perineal care, catheter care, turn residents in bed, sponge baths, measure and record temperature, pulse and respirations, weigh and measure residents, perform restorative and rehabilitative procedures and observe and report presence of skin changes; review care plan daily, report changes in resident conditions to supervisor; and record all necessary charting entries and reports all accidents and incidents. 2. Follows proper charging procedures for resident care items; cares for the dying resident and provides post mortem care. C. Resident's Right Functions Maintain resident confidentiality and privacy; treat residents with kindness, dignity and respect; know and comply with Resident's Rights; and, promptly report all resident complaints and incidents to supervisor.
Walking, reaching, bending, lifting, grasping, pushing and pulling, find hand coordination, ability to communicate with residents, families and personnel, ability to distinguish smells, tastes and temperatures, ability to hear and respond to pages, ability to read and write English, record intake, ability to understand instructions and training and remain calm under stress. The employee must be able lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Qualifications for the CNA :
Must Be a Certified Nursing Assistant in good standing and meet all applicable federal and state certification requirements or training to satisfactory complete the requirements or in training to satisfactory complete the requirements to become a Certified Nursing Assistant in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
Must be 18 years of age Completion of high school or GED equivalent or otherwise show the ability to read and write and follow oral commands in English
Previous experience or completion of an appropriate training course Positive attitude toward elderly
Must be eligible for clearance through abuse registry and Department of Law enforcement.
