We are currently seeking a Phlebotomist to perform blood draws at a high-volume family practice in San Antonio, TX. Compassionate and experienced applicants need only apply!
Essential Functions of the Position:
- Follows established protocols for ensuring patient and specimen identification
- Performs phlebotomy techniques according to established protocols, including venipuncture and finger-stick procedures
- Performs procedures pertaining to the collection of other specimens for laboratory testing such as throat culture, urine culture, etc.
- Performs related clerical support activities to interview and instruct patients, enters data into computerized database, and maintains related records and reports.
- Performs specimen processing and data entry according to established protocols
- Obtain laboratory reports, review reports for accuracy, and distribute reports to appropriate clinical personnel according to established procedures
- Complies with all safety, infection control, and HIPAA policies and procedures
- Provides exceptional customer service to all who utilize the laboratory
- Will stay to accommodate any late end of day patients
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a phlebotomy training program or certification
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
- Familiarity with laboratory techniques and procedures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with patients
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently with attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently
Skills:
- Hospital experience preferred but not required
- Proficient in venipuncture techniques
- Knowledge of clinical laboratory operations and equipment
- Ability to accurately record vital signs and patient information
