Job Title: Automotive General Manager

Location: Midwest Region (Preference for Minnesota or surrounding areas; relocation assistance available for the right candidate)

Position Summary:

Our client is seeking an experienced Automotive General Manager (GM) with over 12 years of proven sales experience in the automotive industry. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for inventory management, a deep understanding of used car valuation, and a balanced approach that integrates traditional and modern sales strategies. Experience with both new and used car operations is essential, and exposure to brands such as Nissan, Infiniti, Volkswagen, Honda, Acura, Kia, and Hyundai are advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inventory Management: Oversee and manage dealership inventory, ensuring optimal stock levels and selection to meet customer demand.
  • Sales Leadership: Drive sales performance through effective team leadership, motivation, and development, ensuring alignment with the dealership's one-price model.
  • Customer Satisfaction: Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction by ensuring a transparent and respectful sales process, fostering long-term relationships and repeat business.
  • Financial Oversight: Manage dealership financials, including budgeting, forecasting, and achieving net profit targets.
  • Vendor Relations: Establish and maintain strong relationships with manufacturers, vendors, and other partners to ensure smooth operations and access to quality inventory.
  • Performance Management: Drives overall store performance by setting and aligning key performance objectives for leaders and employees. Provides ongoing coaching, development, and accountability to ensure sustained success and growth.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: A minimum of 12 years in automotive sales, with extensive expertise in both new and used car operations. Experience in fixed operations is also preferred, complementing the variable aspects of the business.
  • Inventory Acumen: Demonstrated ability to assess and manage inventory effectively, with a focus on acquiring high-value used vehicles that meet customer demand.
  • Leadership: Proven track record of leading and developing successful sales teams, with a balanced approach that integrates traditional and modern sales strategies.
  • Customer Focus: Commitment to maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction through transparent and ethical sales practices.
  • Financial Management: Strong understanding of dealership financials, with the ability to manage budgets and achieve profitability targets.
  • Industry Knowledge: Exposure to brands such as Nissan, Infiniti, Volkswagen, Honda, Acura, Kia, and Hyundai is ideal.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Base Salary: $140,000 annually.
  • Performance Bonus: Percentage of net profit based on annual budget attainment, market share targets, and customer satisfaction metrics, with on-target earnings (OTE) ranging from $235,000 to $275,000. Bonuses are paid quarterly, with an additional percentage awarded at year-end for meeting budget, market share placement, and OEM customer satisfaction targets.
  • Car Allowance: $9,000 annually ($750 per month).
  • Additional Benefits: Company-provided phone and other standard benefits.
