What are the responsibilities and job description for the BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT OFFICER position at Avenir Financial FCU?
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Maintains a wide variety of contacts both inside and outside the credit union, coordinating business development activities, promoting services, exchanging information, and representing the credit union at civic, trade functions and professional organizations
- Engage in new member SEG orientations, membership growth events and other related events that allow the credit union to connect with prospective new member
- Conduct educational presentations at local businesses, community events and school
- Propose, manage, and monitor the success of the business development programs.
- Active participation in local Chamber of Commerce groups, Economic Development Corporations, and other local organizations.
- Assist in the development and implementation of a strategic, multi-faceted business development program designed to promote, retain, and increase the Credit Union’s membership and visibility in the communities that we serve.
- Provide monthly reporting detailing all efforts and results for new memberships generated, new partnerships established, open enrollments/tabling events held and community sponsorship/event participation.
- Responsible for complying with the Bank Secrecy Act policies and procedures, including attendance at annual training, as directed by the Bank Secrecy Act Officer.
- Works in the spirit of the credit union’s purpose and values.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Education/Certification
High school diploma required. A bachelor’s degree in business, communications, public relations or related field strongly preferred.
Required Experience
Two to five years of similar or related experience.
Required Knowledge
Basic understanding of financial services industry; in-depth knowledge of credit union products and services required. Knowledge and understanding of Proficient knowledge of social media, and internet.
Skills/Abilities
Excellent oral and written communication and public speaking skills required. Ability to make persuasive presentations to individuals and groups. Bilingual preferred. Ability to operate a personal computer with full working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint). Internet research skills. Dependable and flexible. The ability to work independently, maintain organization and work effectively with minimal supervision. Ability to work weekends and flexible schedule. Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license.
