Job Summary :

You create amazing experiences for our library patrons. You work cooperatively and effectively with others to deliver excellent service, resolve problems, and make decisions that enhance organizational effectiveness. You help develop and implement creative library programs. You understand customer needs and enjoy connecting them with the right library materials. You engage well with others and are passionate about providing an exemplary customer experience. You’re able to share your passion for library services and enjoy talking about and offering meaningful recommendations of the latest books, movies, and music. You are an explorer; you are out on the floor with library customers helping them with their journey through our amazing library.

Duties and Responsibilities :

• Continually looking for opportunities to have library patrons feel welcome and connected to library materials and services.
• Assists patrons with locating materials at the reference desk, using computers, and explaining procedures (checking out, logging onto the Internet, making copies, etc.).
• Assist with circulation activities including patron orientation, check-in-out, creating displays, shelving, etc.
• Assist with programming and promotional activities.
• Create monthly program sheets and other promotional flyers, bookmarks, etc.
• Know and understand the American Library Association’s Library Bill of Rights, Freedom to Read Statement and Freedom to View Statement, recognizing that freedom of access is a fundamental tenet of a public library.
• Follow all legal and policy requirements related to patron privacy and custodianship of patron records.
• Oversee the ongoing grooming of your assigned library areas collection.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
