The Revenue Supervisor ensures revenue payments and taxpayer correspondence are processed accurately and timely while maintaining high-quality service standards.

The Revenue Supervisor is responsible for managing the Revenue Department staff, overseeing daily operations, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies and applicable laws. This role includes supervising employees, directing work assignments, evaluating performance, and handling employee relations. The Revenue Supervisor ensures revenue payments and taxpayer correspondence are processed accurately and timely while maintaining high-quality service standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise the Revenue Department staff, including hiring, training, and performance management.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of all revenue payments and taxpayer correspondence with detailed notes in account software.
- Respond to taxpayer inquiries while maintaining high standards of customer service.
- Collaborate with other departments to streamline RDS processing and taxpayer service functions.
- Coordinate and secure client approval for outbound letters and applications.
- Oversee bank deposits and Remote Deposit Capture processing.
- Review and approve taxpayer refund requests as needed.
- Ensure deadlines for invoicing, rate changes, and delinquency notices are met.
- Generate reports for management as required.
- Maintain supervisory responsibilities, including:
- Interviewing and selecting employees
- Training and onboarding team members
- Assigning and directing work
- Evaluating employee performance
- Recognizing and disciplining employees as needed
- Addressing and resolving employee and customer complaints
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or at least two years of relevant experience/training.
- In-depth knowledge of the Alabama Taxpayer Bill of Rights and Alabama Business Tax requirements.
- Minimum of two years of supervisory experience overseeing a team of at least three employees.
- Proficiency in business math computations using online tools, calculators, or spreadsheet applications.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with customers and employees.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to create spreadsheets, graphs, and charts using raw data.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Typing speed of 10,000 keystrokes per hour.
- High attention to detail, with the ability to proofread correspondence, identify errors, and ensure accuracy.
- Ability to read and interpret city/county tax ordinances.
- Capability to draft routine correspondence with minimal supervision.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to resolve routine issues independently.
- Office setting with moderate noise levels.
- Individual workstation with frequent use of a telephone and computer.
- Monthly overtime and some weekends required
- Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods.
- Frequent use of computers and office equipment, such as printers and copy machines.
- Occasional movement within the office.
- Frequent communication via telephone and email.
