Job Responsibilities
- Provides safe and direct patient care, including ambulating, bathing, positioning, entering diet information into the computer system, passing meal trays, feeding, and attending to other care needs.
- Greets all persons coming to the area assigned, answers inquiries, directs and assists them, takes and relays messages, assists with gifts, flowers, and mail for patients, runs errands for department staff.
- Ambulates patients and assists them in and out of wheelchairs, measures intakes and outputs, collects specimens, and transports patients as needed.
- Answers telephone, operates paging system, attends station, and directs traffic during emergencies.
- Prepares requisitions for diagnostic and therapeutic services, coordinates appointments with respective departments, makes outpatient appointments for discharging patients.
- Requisitions supplies and equipment, maintains and repairs services, and prepares related forms.
- Requests services such as chaplain, social services, and pastoral care as directed.
- Performs clerical duties related to procedures like admission, discharge, preparing charts and forms, transfer, and death.
- Manages interdepartmental and patient mail.
- Maintains patient rooms in an orderly condition, changes bed linens, and provides routine cleaning tasks.
Requirements
- The individual must be able to work the specified hours.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must have visual acuity adequate to perform position duties, ability to communicate effectively, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School or GED Equivalent High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) - Licensing Board
