Job Summary
Avera Queen of Peace Hospital is seeking a Physical Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the daily coordination and delivery of physical therapy services, implementing specific treatment programs for individual patients and patient groups.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Evaluate assigned patients, gathering data from various sources such as patient records, interviews, observation, and team members.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment programs for patients needing services, reviewing plans with patients and instructing them in home programs or exercises as appropriate.
- Use selected activities and/or tasks to promote and maintain health, and to achieve treatment goals, establish and modify intervention and strategies for patients' treatment programs based on ongoing evaluation.
- Provide direct therapy services to patients using various functional settings and strategies, planning therapy within patients' individual physical, emotional, and intellectual capabilities as indicated and coordinated with rehabilitation, medical, and nursing care plans.
- Prepare documentation as required by the profession and department, such as evaluation results, individualized treatment plans, progress notes, and other reports.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and other disciplinary team members regarding patients' status, progress, and needs, attending care conferences when applicable.
- Establish rapport and work cooperatively with interdisciplinary team members (including family/physician) throughout patients' intervention programs.
- Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, workshops, etc.
- Oversee physical therapy assistants, techs, and students in an efficient and effective manner that ensures safe patient care and smooth departmental operation.
- Maintain knowledge of proper use of equipment for patient care.
Qualifications
- The individual must be able to work the hours specified. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily, including having visual acuity adequate to perform position duties and the ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds.
- An active license in the state of practice Upon Hire.
