A Brief Overview
Plays a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining data infrastructure and pipelines to support research initiatives. The Data Scientist is an expert in the field of data sciences, responsible for supporting work in managing, synthesizing, and analyzing data. This position will collaborate with cross-functional team members to ensure the efficient and reliable flow of data for analysis, modeling, and experimentation; utilizing knowledge of enterprise data warehousing, statistical and data mining methods and perform data preparation, processing, and analysis. This will include reproducible research, statistical inference, regression models and machine learning. This position requires experience working with large research data and medical records.
What you will do
- Gathers, cleans, and preprocesses data from various sources (i.e. research, clinical, and publicly available data), ensuring data quality and integrity.
- Develops and maintains databases to automate research data collection and processing tasks.
- Develops and maintains data integration processes and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipelines to consolidate data from various sources, while ensuring data quality, accuracy, and consistency throughout the integration process.
- Automates data extraction, transformation, and loading processes to enable real-time or scheduled data updates.
- Performs descriptive/exploratory data analysis to gain a deep understanding of the dataset’s characteristics, patterns, and potential biases.
- Designs and develops machine learning and/or statistical models to address research questions and objectives.
- Writes memos, reports, dashboards and visualize data to communicate findings effectively to researchers, study managers and lay population.
- Collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, including researchers, clinicians, domain experts, and engineers, to align research goals with data-driven insights.
- Interacts and consults with researchers and clinical staff to ensure proper data collection and management methods during the entire study process.
- Communicates research findings and insights effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders through reports, presentations, and visualizations.

Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:
- Master's in Informatics, Mathematics, (Bio) Statistics, Data Science or related field
- Strong proficiency in programming languages
- Professional experience and knowledge of database management, analysis, and synthesis
- Expertise in research databases/SQL
