A Brief Overview
In conjunction with the Lung Screening Program Coordinator, working group and Medical Director, the Lung Screening Program Navigator completes daily operations for the Lung Cancer Screening Program. Duties include supporting all efforts related to guiding patients through the screening process. Internal and external contacts include nursing staff and management, physicians, patients, families, community agencies, and professional peers. The Navigator will ensure proper eligibility criteria has been met with scheduled patients along with promoting and providing quality care that is coordinated and navigated along an agreed care path with appropriate information available to patients while minimizing time intervals along the full continuum of care.
What you will do
- Identifies, interviews and screens patients for eligibility for the Lung Cancer Screening Program, offer smoking cessation, and answer program related questions.
- Obtains required medical history and educate patients about the process and next steps of the program along with potential risks.
- Collaborates with Research to assist in any studies that involve the Lung Cancer Screening program.
- Participates in abnormal scan review meetings.
- Works with Medical Director frequently to establish and maintain quality of program
- Consults with radiologists, physicians, and other patient care personnel as to specific details of individual exams, follow-up procedures and guideline recommendations.
- Accurately input required data into appropriate Lung Cancer Screening Program reporting software to be submitted to ACR.
- Be familiar with ACR, NCCN, and Lung-Rads guidelines and protocols.
- Engages in community events and education to promote the Lung Cancer Screening Program.
- Assists with the collection and maintenance of records as needed by the Radiology Department, Quality Assurance Department, JCAHO accreditation, OSHA guidelines, or as may be required by law.
