Position: Director of Nursing (Assisted Living)
Schedule: Full time, days
Reports to: Assisted Living Administrator
Job Summary: Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for leading and supervising the nursing unit. This position is ultimately responsible, and accountable, for the nursing care received by residents.

Job Summary: Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for leading and supervising the nursing unit. This position is ultimately responsible, and accountable, for the nursing care received by residents.
Job Responsibilities:
- Directing the nursing program, including implementing new policies and procedures when necessary
- Overseeing hiring, firing, and development of nursing staff
- Assist with the development and leadership of the Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA)with case management of both Medicare and non-Medicare residents as needed
- Review updates and notates in the 24-hour report and daily log pertinent resident and community information
- Conducts effective visits/rounds at a minimum twice a day: conducts visits/rounds with physicians as necessary
- Communicating with families and residents
- Research and document all incidents of abuse, neglect and misappropriation of funds and reports to Assisted Living Administrator
- Developing a business plan and budget for the nursing unit
- Participating in creating resident care plans and ensuring they are followed
- Ensuring the nursing unit is compliant with all local, state, and federal regulations
- Actively participates in the Clinical At-Risk Meetings to obtain information on admissions and discharges for the day/week
- Assists in monitoring medication records and administration
- Ensuring the nursing unit is compliant with all local, state and federal regulations and actively participates in surveys.
Qualifications:
- Must be CPR trained and possess a current BLS certification
- Experience using PCC
Education and experience:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
- Current RN license with the state is required.
- Previous DON experience is REQUIRED
