We established the Veteran Vision Fund (VVF) to develop a curriculum that will adequately prepare veterans and low income civilians for A&P license. The Bureau of Labor Statistics alongside the FAA has projected a 13,000 person deficit in the field of Aviation Maintenance each year for the next decade. Our Semper Ed project is an innovative solution to provide differentiated learning to the field, entice new technicians, and prepare servicemembers for transition into a needed profession. This project will also help grow interest in differentiated communities with a goal to lower the median age of technicians and increase the percent of women in the field.
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Grant Writer to support the team in identifying the best sources of funding for this project, as well as lead the development, writing and submission of grant proposals. Primary responsibilities include research of opportunities, relationship forming with grant-providing organizations, and preparation of proposals and grant applications.
Requirements and Responsibilities
Bachelor’s degree required
Grant writing experience, preferably with an education or field related focus; skilled at aligning the organization’s objectives with the funding opportunities available
Experience should demonstrate a proven track record of securing new funding opportunities; comprehensive knowledge of research, and the ability to distinguish and identify best fit opportunities
Ability to work effectively under pressure
Excellent writing and verbal skills - including s strong command of grammar, punctuation and style; ability to articulate complex ideas clearly, concisely and persuasively; a keen eye for detail and can effectively adapt writing style to various grant applications and funding agencies
Highly organized with the ability to implement systems and follow-up processes; create and implement weekly reporting rhythm for the team
Proficiency in research - strong research skills to identify relevant funding opportunities, gather supporting data and understand the priorities and requirements of potential funders; compile compelling evidence to support grant proposals
Excellent computer and database management skills
Motivated self-starter with the ability to work collaboratively and independently with purpose and accuracy in a fast-paced environment
Cultivate positive relationships with all stakeholders
