The Opportunity

We are seeking a Research Associate to join our team in San Diego. This is a hands-on position with responsibility for the design, synthesis, and analysis of oligonucleotides. The ideal candidate will have biotech/pharma experience in aspects of medicinal chemistry, bioconjugation and nucleic acid therapeutics. The candidate is expected to be a strong team player, who enjoys scientific discovery and can communicate and collaborate in an interdisciplinary environment.

What You Will Contribute

• Design, synthesis, purification, and analysis of oligonucleotides ranging from mg to gram scales.
• Development of oligonucleotide synthesis protocols and process optimizations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support ongoing research activities.
• Maintain detailed experimental records in an electronic lab notebook, prepare and communicate research results in both oral and written formats.
• Follow all laboratory safety protocols and assist with general laboratory management, equipment upkeep, and inventory management.

What We Seek

•          BS or MS in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, or related discipline. Previous experience in biotech/pharma is desirable.

•          Experience with purification and analytical techniques (e.g., HPLC, IEX, SEC, LC-MS, PAGE) is required.

•          Experience with oligonucleotide synthesizers (Mermade, Dr. Oligo, Akta) and processes (C&D, purification, desalting, formulation) is desirable.

•          Proven ability to conduct self-directed research and to work effectively in a dynamic environment with a diverse team of co-workers

•          Solid written and oral communication skills, enthusiasm, integrity, self-motivation, strong interpersonal skills, and attention to detail are necessary 

What We Will Provide to You:

• The base salary range for this role is $36.54/hr. - $40.38/hr. The final compensation will be commensurate with relevant experience, skillset, internal equity, and market factors.
