We are seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager to oversee our small market and café style restaurant located in a picturesque beachside setting. This role requires a creative, reliable versatile leader who can effectively manage a seasonal business, balancing peak summer months with quieter off-season periods.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations Management:
- Oversee daily operations of the retail market, café style restaurant and acai counter, ensuring smooth functioning and excellent customer service
- Coordinate front and back of house operations, adapting quickly between retail and food service areas.
- Implement and maintain health and safety regulations especially crucial in a food service environment. Ensure the market always remains clean and presentable.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies, including ABC.
Staff Management:
- Recruit, onboard, and train high-performing employees for a safe, productive, profitable and harmonious work culture.
- Develop and maintain training protocols for all staff on an ongoing basis.
- Create and manage staff schedules, adjusting for seasonal fluctuations in business
- Function as first point of contact to resolve team concerns and issues in an efficient and to the mutual benefit or all.
- Delegate responsibilities to the best-qualified employees and enforce all policies, procedures, standards, specifications, guidelines, training programs and company culture.
Financial Management:
- Manage budgets, control costs, and optimize profitability throughout the year
- Forecast seasonal demand and adjust inventory and staffing accordingly
- Develop strategies to generate income during slower periods.
- Oversee and manage the payroll process for staff with outside P/R company.
- Overall responsibility for Accounts Payable, reviewing and approving vendors and suppliers, delivery tickets and invoice processing through a third-party accounting support company.
- Overall responsibility for operations performance and financial analysis of sales, reports, and labor for profitability.
Customer Service:
- Ensure high quality customer experiences in market, café/restaurant and acai areas.
- Handle customer inquiries and complaints effectively, building and maintaining the business’s reputation.
Marketing and Business Development:
- Plan and execute marketing strategies tailored for peak and off-peak seasons, including coordination with third party service providers for social media presence
- Develop promotions to attract customers during slower periods
- Explore opportunities to expand product offerings or services to generate additional revenue streams
- Engagement with local community organizations
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience in retail and food service management, preferably in a seasonal business environment
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent financial acumen and budgeting abilities
- Creative problem-solving skills to address challenges unique to seasonal operations
- Flexibility to work extended hours during peak seasons, including weekends.
- Ability to respond to emergencies and act as first point of contact.

Salary : $75,000 - $85,000
