Nurse Practitioner Job Description
The Nurse Practitioner is a licensed independent practitioner who is responsible for managing sleep disorders and coordinating health care for the patient in accordance with State and Federal rules and regulations and the nursing standards of care (assessment of health status, diagnosis, development of plan of care and treatment, implementation of treatment plan, and evaluation of patient status).
Essential responsibilities
· Functions independently to perform age-appropriate history and physical.
· Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to patient’s age-specific needs.
· Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities
· Monitors the effectiveness of interventions.
· Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals.
· Facilitates staff, patient and family decision making by providing educational tools.
Minimum qualifications
· Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited program.
· Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Licensure
· Current Nurse Practitioner certification
· Current provider card in Basic Life Support (BLS)
· Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
· Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
· Comfortable with performing Telehealth visits.
Preferred Experience
- Background knowledge of sleep disorders is preferred but not required.
