Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Estimator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in construction estimating and project management, with the ability to analyze project specifications and develop accurate cost estimates. This role is crucial in ensuring that projects are completed within budget and on schedule, while also maintaining high-quality standards.
Duties
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects by analyzing drawings, specifications, and other documentation.
- Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to understand project requirements and scope.
- Utilize estimating software such as Bluebeam, PlanSwfit, etc. to create precise estimates.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and conduct site visits to gather data and assess project conditions for accurate estimating.
- Solicit subcontractor and vendor bids to ensure coverage on all scopes of work.
- Distribute plans, specifications, and addenda to all subcontractors and vendors.
- Negotiate contracts with subcontractors and suppliers to secure favorable pricing and terms.
- Prepare bid proposals and presentations.
- Assist in job turnover and meetings with the project management team.
- Monitor costs throughout the project lifecycle to ensure adherence to budget constraints.
- Maintain organized records old estimates, proposals, contracts, and related documents for future reference.
Requirements
- Proven experience in construction estimating.
- Knowledge of estimating techniques, cost control, and cost data.
- Strong knowledge of construction management principles and practices.
- Proficiency in using estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to effectively communicate with subcontractors and clients.
- Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail for accurate cost control.
- Familiarity with construction site operations and safety protocols.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Must be able to pass post offer pre-employment drug and alcohol and background checks.
- Position requires visits to construction and industrial worksites.
