POSITION PURPOSE:
The Community Engagement Director is responsible for developing and implementing strategies that enhance Aviva Health’s presence and image in the community, while securing funding sources that support organizational growth and development. This includes building relationships, promoting services, and supporting community-driven initiatives that align with Aviva Health’s mission, vision, and values.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Design and implement effective community engagement strategies to support the growth and development of the organization while positively influencing the external perception of the organization, its mission, and its leadership. Align community engagement strategies with the goals of the organization.
- Establish methods of measuring successful community engagement strategies and develop plans to address any areas of opportunity.
- Identify, design and implement fundraising strategies to support the growth and development of the organization. Participate in fundraising initiatives to support community initiatives.
- Identify and initiate connections with potential external partners to applicable internal leaders and representatives of the organization that may support organizational growth and development. Serve as a liaison between Aviva Health and various external parties, including city departments, community groups, and advisory committees, to coordinate and implement programs and projects.
- Join, participate, and represent Aviva Health in various community groups, programs, events, public speaking engagements, and public meetings while positively representing the organization, its mission, and reputation. Engage in local initiatives aimed at enriching the culture, supporting economic development, and addressing community needs.
- Cultivate effective professional relationships with local residents, leaders, nonprofits, government representatives, school representatives, and other community group representatives to support community initiatives that promote growth, inclusiveness, and resource sharing.
- Collaborate with team members to create a community engagement plan focused on promoting the needs and priorities set forth by organizational leaders.
- Appropriately engage employees in participating in community activities that support the goals of the organization.
- Identify and facilitate access to new grants.
- Identify and manage creative community events and outreach opportunities.
- Conduct presentations to educate community members about Aviva Health’s services, initiatives, and programs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Community Development, Communications, Public Relations, Business, Political Science, or a related field (preferred); equivalent work experience in lieu of education may be considered.
- 3 years of experience in community engagement, public relations, community fundraising, outreach, event management, or similar roles.
- Experience in relationship-building, networking, and public speaking.
- Knowledgeable of inner workings of the local community, professional network, and available resources.
- Ability to be strategic and tactical.
