The Team
The Development & Community Engagement Team is responsible for solicitating gifts from individuals, corporations, and foundations while strengthening our engagement in Douglas County. This team collaborates closely with the ED, the board, and other key stakeholders across the organization to deepen donor engagement and increase support for Saving Grace priorities through various channels and approaches.
The Position
The Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to connect Saving Grace with the community through outreach, events, and fundraising activities. This role plays a key part in fostering relationships with individuals, groups, and businesses to promote Saving Grace’s mission, generate support, and enhance public awareness.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Creates, leads, and implements a community engagement plan that advances Saving Grace’s strategic plan in the areas of community outreach and fundraising
- Continuously monitor and assess the success of the community engagement programs and implement changes as necessary
- Coordinate off-site tabling and adoption events that raise funds, in-kind donations, and promote awareness and mission of Saving Grace including creating and maintaining an events calendar
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with community members, individuals, groups, and businesses alike including recruiting and aiding in hosting small-scale fundraisers that align with Saving Grace’s mission
- Lead and support Community Engagement Volunteers including training and communications
- Communicate internally with staff on upcoming events and fundraising opportunities to ensure unified communications to the public and volunteers
- Partner with the Volunteer Coordinator to utilize volunteers in best fit areas during off-site events
- Cross train with the Volunteer Coordinator to serve as a backup point of contact for organization volunteers
- Work closely with the Development Manager, Executive Director, and committees to assist with larger fundraising events
- Carry out other special projects as assigned

ACCOUNTABILITY

Minimum Qualification & Transferable Skills
- A minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent work experience, education, and/or training relevant to the work described
- Able to exercise sound judgment and maintain a professional demeanor during all interactions with the public, partner agencies, donors, staff and volunteers.
- Proficiency using the Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills - able to communicate with a diverse population in a consistently informative, respectful and professional manner.
- Ability to work well with, help guide and train new staff and volunteers within the organization.
- Able to learn and adapt to new software programs
- 1 years of relevant professional experience
Preferred:
- Associates degree
- Previous experience in a nonprofit and/or animal welfare organization
- Preferred Experience in Canva or other design studio
Work Environment Conditions & Physical Requirements
This position interacts with and collaborates with all levels of the organization, including staff, leadership, donors, general public, external vendors, volunteers, and supporters. Contact and communication are carried out through face-to-face, telephone and digital interactions. Excellent customer service skills are essential to success. Communication must be clear, understandable, professional and respectful in all circumstances.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Work is performed in an office and medical clinic/animal shelter environment. Contact with emotional people may occur.
- Occasional weekend and evening work may be required.
- Animal contact and related injuries and exposures may occur.
- Noise exposure varies and sometimes includes uncontrolled barking and other animal vocalizations.
- Pace of work is active and demanding, requiring a high degree of multitasking and ability to adapt to changing priorities while managing concurrent projects/tasks to completion.
- This position requires driving, valid driver’s license and clean driving record is required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Occasional lifting and moving of inanimate objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Occasional pushing and pulling of carted items weighing up to 100 lbs.
- Occasional moving items above shoulder level.
- Occasional use of hands and arms at or above shoulder level.
- Prolonged standing, sitting and/or stooping may occur.
- Occasional climbing and bending.
- Must be able to lift, move, restrain, guide, or manage an animal weighing up to 150 lbs. on a leash on an occasional basis.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for prolonged periods.
- Ability to respond and perform life saving techniques in an emergency.
