Your Role:
As a Resident Advocate, you will be a steady, compassionate presence for individuals transitioning out of homelessness. You’ll provide safety, support, and resources in moments that matter—offering a warm meal, de-escalating conflicts, ensuring a peaceful night’s rest, and connecting residents with critical services. Your role is more than just a job; it’s an opportunity to build trust, restore dignity, and help people reclaim their futures.
Key Responsibilities Include:
✅ Ensuring the safety and well-being of residents by conducting home checks and monitoring the space.
✅ Providing basic needs—passing out meals, beverages, and harm reduction supplies.
✅ Engaging with residents, building rapport, and creating a supportive environment.
✅ De-escalating conflicts and addressing crisis situations with empathy and professionalism.
✅ Supporting residents’ journeys by accompanying them to appointments and assisting with transitions in housing.
✅ Facilitating community-building activities to promote stability and connection.
Qualifications
What You Offer:
✔ A heart for service. You see the dignity in every person, no matter their circumstances.
✔ Two years of experience working with single adults experiencing homelessness, OR lived experience that equips you to serve with understanding and insight.
✔ Openness to Harm Reduction & Housing First principles—and a willingness to learn and grow in this approach.
✔ Ability to pass a DHS background check.
Preferred (but not required):
📌 Experience in a behavioral health setting or knowledge of mental health, chemical health, and trauma-informed care.
📌 Familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and community resources.
📌 A degree (Associate’s, Bachelor’s) in a related human services field.
