WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
As a Read House Line Cook, you will be responsible for accurately and efficiently cooking meats, fish, vegetables, soups and other hot food products as well as prepare and portion food products prior to cooking. You will also perform other duties in the areas of food and final plate preparation, including plating and garnishing cooked items and preparing appropriate garnishes for all menu item plates.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Set up cooking station according to restaurant guidelines, ready for service at time requiredPrepare all food items as directed in a sanitary and timely mannerFollow recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications as set by the restaurantRestock all items as needed throughout the shiftClean and maintain stations while practicing exceptional safety, sanitation and organizational skillsMaintain an understanding and knowledge of proper use and maintenance of all equipment in the stationAssist with the cleaning, sanitation, and organization of the kitchen, walk-in coolers, and all storage areasAbide by all company and state guidelines regarding food handling safety and sanitationPerform additional responsibilities as requested by the Chef, Sous Chef or Chef de CuisineMaintain regular and punctual on-site attendance with the ability to work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays when business requiresJob Requirements
Education / Experience :
High school diploma or equivalent preferredPreferred previous work experience in similar-style restaurant establishmentsBasic understanding of professional cooking and knife handling skills.Understanding and knowledge of safety, sanitation, and food handling proceduresServSafe certification preferredSkills :
Professional communication skills are requiredAbility to take directionAbility to work in a team environmentAbility to work efficiently with strong attention to detailMust have problem solving abilities, be self-motivated, and organizedCommitment to quality service and food and beverage knowledge and presentationSafely operate and utilize culinary production equipment and toolsPhysical & Mental Requirements :
Ability to work well under high-stress conditions with changing variablesAbility to frequently lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move up to 50 poundsAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.Ability to stand for extended periods of time, sometimes more than 8 hoursAbility to multitask and work effectively in a high-demand, fast-paced environment with changing variablesAbility to apply patience and understanding to all persons and situationsAbility to perform well under pressure to meet the needs of guests, team members and / or managementWork Environment :
