POSITION SUMMARY:
Due to increased global demand for critical power, the Designer\Modeler will play a lead role in the development of new load banks including portable, permanent and trailerized versions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Functions:
- Works with Lead Project Engineer and other project team members to transform new product ideas and requirements into a prototype or pilot design
- Uses 3D tools such as PTC Creo to digitally prototype, increasing speed-to-market initiatives.
- Develop 3D design models based on concepts, sketches or previous designs to create detailed drawings, focusing on core manufacturing capabilities.
- Conceptualizes sheet metal design through the use of either 2 or 3D tools ensuring tolerancing requirements are met.
- Propose assembly and\or fabrication techniques and develop the new product’s mechanical, physical and other attributes to ensure design is manufacturable at best cost.
- Presents, or co-presents with Lead Project Engineer model designs for technical review or design reviews, ensuring compliance with company processes
- Prepare comprehensive document packages for manufacturing release, including assembly drawings, Bills-of-materials and machine files
- Maintain drawing revision control in accordance with Avtron document control processes
Additional Responsibilities:
- Provide frequent updates on projects, including timeline for completion.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and promoting a proactive approach to identify and mitigate potential hazards with new product manufacturing process
- Live the mission, vision and values of Avtron
- Any other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated experience developing and creating new products preferably in the electrical-mechanical products space
- Minimum 8 years of experience in related role
- Strong knowledge of safety protocols, quality control, and manufacturing processes
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Experience designing to UL, CSA, NEC, and other safety agency requirements would be a plus.
EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Education:
- BS in Engineering or Computer Aided Design (CAD) preferred, Associate Degree in Engineering or CAD required.
- Experience in both 2D and 3D modeling software
- Strong communication and presentation skills, verbal and written
Experience
- To perform minimum position requirements satisfactorily: requires a minimum of 8 years of experience in a new product development environment for mechanical\electrical systems.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
- 3D CAD skills are required; PTC Creo preferred
- Proficiency in Excel
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including PowerPoint, Excel, etc.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $1.00 - $100.00 per hour
