Due to increased global demand for critical power, our Sales Order Engineering Manager will play a key role in our Sales Order Engineering team by helping to facilitate development of configured-to-order (CTO) load banks including portable, permanent and trailerized versions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Functions:
Provides knowledge, technical leadership and professionalism in the area of electrical and mechanical systems. Drives technical proficiency through on-the-job training, field\customer exposure and technical development programs.
Delegates projects within team to maximize resource utilization and provide cross-training to increase product knowledge across the team.
Evaluates employees’ performance periodically. Recommend and/or approve change of status and salary adjustments. Maintains staffing and training of personnel.
Drives periodic, scheduled training sessions to Sales, Customer Service and other internal teams to increase product knowledge.
Plans, manages and coordinates the engineering design work queue requiring the application of standard techniques and engineering best practices to deliver configured-to-order product drawing packages and bills-of-materials within agreed upon cycle time and accuracy goals.
Manages the engineering team workflow including costing and pre-quote analysis, order processing, creation of production and engineering documents, approvals and bills of materials (BOM).
Reviews and evaluates sales order requirements\specifications and other customer supplied materials to suggest possible Avtron solutions and configure and\or develop load banks.
Works with Sales and potentially the customer to resolve any requirements not clearly defined to achieve an actionable product specification.
Provides support to Sales and Applications Engineering within pre-sales phase establish factory cost for configured or engineered to order solutions.
Approves project releases to Manufacturing.
Drives value engineering, product improvement and cost reduction including the analysis of alternative solutions and lowest cost/best performance to produce modern, reliable, and cost-effective designs.
Works with internal groups such as Assembly, Test, Procurement and field technicians during start up to resolve issues and coordinate engineering response and action plans as needed.
Prepares engineering submittals for filing product with UL and CSA agencies to obtain approvals; directs third party product certification and testing where required.
Works with Assembly and Test departments as required to resolve any issues encountered during build\test.
Ensures all product safety and quality requirements are met.

Provide updates on project status and timeline for completion
Adhere to all safety guidelines and promoting a proactive approach to identify and mitigate potential hazards with new product manufacturing process

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Demonstrated experience developing and creating new products preferably in the electro mechanical products space
Minimum 10 years of experience in related role
Strong knowledge of safety protocols, quality control, and manufacturing processes
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interface with customers and vendors
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills
Creative and flexible personality to work through changing responsibilities and customer requirements
Knowledge of basic electrical concepts such as current carrying capability of conductors, ampacity, and electrical spacing requirements is a plus
Industry-specific knowledge in the electrical testing space is a plus
Professional Engineer (PE) License is a plus
EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Education:
Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is required
Training and/or professional experience in seismic, wind and vibration calculations to support equipment designs (IBC) is a plus
Experience
Five or more years of professional experience with development, design and engineering of mechanical\electrical systems using both 2D and 3D CAD software
Ten or more years of professional experience within OEM electrical or mechanical domains
Experience designing to UL, CSA, NEC, and other safety agency requirements
COMPUTER SKILLS:
2D and 3D CAD skills are required
Proficiency in Excel
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
ERP systems functional understanding
