- Job Title: Raw Material and Shear Room Supervisor
- Pay Rate Range: $23-27/Hour
- Location: Mendota Heights, MN
- Schedule: 1st Shift, Mon-Thurs 6AM-3PM and Fri 6AM-12PM with optional O/T.
- Position Type: Temp to Hire
- Degree from two-year college or technical school; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Forklift and crane certificate required.
- Knowledge of metal materials.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to employees and managers.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; plus, stoop, crouch, and kneel.
- occasionally required to talk or hear.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Determine lot number and part number used on each job.
- Create work instruction for shearing and disposition of material to be used or discarded.
- Substitute material if feasible.
- Post materials to jobs when needed.
- Determine proper bill of material quantities.
- Work with purchasing to determine proper quantities and delivery locations.
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of shear operators, including assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and providing guidance and support as needed.
- Ensure shear operations are performed in accordance with established quality standards, including inspecting material for defects.
- Monitor production schedules and adjust staffing levels as needed to meet production targets.
- Coordinate with other departments, such as engineering and maintenance, to ensure equipment is properly maintained and repaired.
- Ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures, including conducting regular safety audits and providing training to staff as needed.
- Monitor and analyze production data to identify opportunities for improvement and implementing changes as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of production activity, including production rates, downtime, and materials usage.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and identifying opportunities for cost savings.
- Unload incoming materials from trucks.
- Receives and issues materials.
- Weigh outgoing scrap and record amounts in log.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant ISO and AS procedures specific to the job function.
- Perform activities of workers supervised.
