We are currently looking for an Technical Service Specialist to join us at our facility in Toledo, Ohio.
The Technical Service Specialist oversees operation of all topcoat. This includes but is not limited to running tests on material, collecting, and recording material data. Measuring and monitoring paint systems for inventory, functionality, and start up or shut down issues. Evaluate color, appearance, and film build on production units within plant.
Key responsibilities:
- Collects and evaluates color, appearance and film builds
- Charts data to control plan
- Verifies start-up of system
- Checks and logs Viscosity and usage
- Manipulates and distributes data to all necessary parties
- Monitors system as it reacts to conditions and calls maintenance supervisor
- Works closely with inventory and billing requirements
- Submits usage reports to plant
- Support all topcoat operations when needed.
Key requirements:
- Language Ability: Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos, and work instructions. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Computer and Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs using latest versions of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Equipment: BYK appearance meter (wave scan), Colorimeter (BykMac, Xrite), Elcometer, Profilometer.
- Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts (conveyors, paint booth robots, and forklifts). The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather); work in high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme heat (non-weather) and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
