Job Summary
Carries out engineering assignments concerned with the planning and design of composite radome components and assembly. Designs and develops radomes and composite structures for airborne, sea and land based platforms. Interfaces with manufacturing engineers, designers / drafters, electrical engineers and operations personnel to develop new products and reduce manufacturing cost on existing production radomes. Performs drawing reviews from Drafters / Designers. Supports Engineers for simple to medium level complexity projects.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Design and development of complex composite structures, both directly and providing oversight across internal / external work packages. Assists the lead with the technical approach / input to the development of leading edge composites manufacturing processes and material selection.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Minimum Requirements :
Must be enrolled in an accredited engineering program in either Aerospace, Mechanical, Industrial, or Civil Engineering. Experience with composite materials and processes. Works under constant supervision performs assignments of mild complexity and assists other Engineers.
Working knowledge of both traditional and new manufacturing techniques for fiber reinforced plastic and thermoplastic materials is a plus.
Physical / Mental Demands & Work Environment :
Position involves sitting, standing and / or walking
Position requires ability to frequently exert up to 10 pounds of force to move objects and occasionally exert up to 20 pounds of force to move objects
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; ear protection occasionally required
Work usually performed in air-conditioned office and factory environment
