Saw Cutter / Layout

Axios Professional Recruitment is partnered with a company in Grand Ledge, MI who is looking to direct hire a Saw Cutter. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating various cutting equipment to produce high-precision metal parts based on engineering drawings. This role requires attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and an understanding of materials used in custom machine fabrication. Must be able to read and accurately measure with a Measuring Tape.

Saw Cutter Requirements

• Sawing and Cutting: Operate saw machinery to cut raw materials (metals) to precise dimensions per specifications provided in technical drawings.
• Material Preparation: Measure, mark, and inspect raw materials before cutting to ensure the highest level of accuracy and quality.
• Maintenance & Care: Maintain cutting equipment in good working condition by performing routine maintenance, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn parts.
• Quality Control: Inspect cut parts for accuracy, including checking dimensions with measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, or gauges. Ensure all parts meet company quality standards before proceeding to the next stage of production.
• Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and guidelines while operating cutting equipment and handling materials to maintain a safe work environment.
• Collaboration: Work closely with machinists, fabricators, and other team members to ensure proper integration of cut parts into custom machine builds.
• Inventory Management: Keep track of materials used and report shortages or other material-related issues to the supervisor.
• Documentation: Accurately document work completed, materials used, and any deviations from original plans to maintain records for future reference.

Saw Cutter Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience operating saws and other cutting equipment in a manufacturing, fabrication, or machine building environment.
• Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications related to custom machine building projects. Must be able to read a Tape Measurer
• Mechanical Aptitude: Basic understanding of machinery and tools, with the ability to make minor adjustments and perform routine maintenance.
• Attention to Detail: Strong focus on precision and quality, ensuring all cuts are accurate and meet specifications.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move heavy materials, stand for long periods, and operate equipment safely in a fast-paced production environment.
• Safety Knowledge: Familiarity with workplace safety standards, including the safe operation of cutting equipment and proper handling of materials.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to troubleshoot issues related to material defects, equipment malfunction, or measurement discrepancies.
