Head of Risk Engineering
How does this role contribute to our collective success?
The Head of Risk Engineering is responsible for leading the risk engineering team, overseeing, and developing risk management strategies to support the underwriting process. This role involves collaborating with underwriters, claims managers, and other stakeholders to ensure comprehensive risk analysis and mitigation. This role will report to the Global Resilience Solution Executive & Head of Operational Transformation.
What will you do in this role?
- Leadership and Management:
- Lead and manage the risk engineering team, providing guidance, training, and support.
- Develop and implement risk engineering policies and procedures.
- Ensure the team meets performance targets and adheres to industry standards.
- Work closely with legal and vender management to identify outside loss control partners
- Risk Assessment and Analysis:
- Conduct and oversee risk assessments for various types of insurance, including property, machinery breakdown, environmental, marine and liability.
- Work closely with business partners on setting up industry verticals
- Analyze risk data and prepare detailed reports for underwriters.
- Working closely with BTS and D&A on creating reporting structure to the business and dashboards for management
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with underwriters to support the underwriting process with accurate risk assessments.
- Collaborate with claims managers to provide technical support and advice on risk-related issues.
- Communicate risk findings and recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Technical Expertise:
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and advancements in risk management.
- Provide technical guidance on risk control measures and improvement plans.
- Lead the development and implementation of new risk assessment tools and technologies.
- Client Engagement:
- Work with customers on additional services AXIS can provide to safeguard their bottom line
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing them with risk management solutions.
- Advise clients on best practices for risk mitigation and loss prevention.

What you need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Risk Management, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in risk engineering, preferably within the insurance industry.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in risk assessment tools and software.

For this position, we currently expect to offer a base salary in the range of 215k-275k. Your salary offer will be based on an assessment of a variety of factors including your specific experience and work location.
