What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tracking and Fusion Engineer position at Axon?
Your Impact
You will be working with our world-class target tracking and data fusion team responsible for integrating different types of heterogeneous sensors to create one comprehensive picture of the airspace. This team works with variety of sensor types to include but not limited to various forms of passive RF sensing, optical cameras, thermal cameras, acoustic sensors, and radars. Our approach is based on techniques in probability theory, linear algebra, and optimization theory. Your impact will be to use these ideas and others in applied mathematics to create algorithms for sensor data fusion and target tracking. Because we have such a heterogeneous set of sensors and they are geographically dispersed, there are many questions that have not been addressed in the tracking infusion literature that this team solves on a day-to-day basis.
What You’ll Do
- Use your understanding of mathematics and programming in Python and C to create real-world algorithms to help customers all over the world.
- Design, develop, and maintain our current target tracking & data fusion algorithms.
- Work with the simulation team to ensure algorithms work in difficult to test scenarios
- Use your algorithmic mindset to pull data and write algorithms to fuse sensor data.
- You'll be working alongside like-minded mathematicians and data fusion and target tracking experts and software engineers to develop solutions to solve real-world problems.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality code that is efficient, maintainable, and scalable.
- Collaborate with various team members to develop innovative solutions
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Proactively identify and implement improvements to our engineering processes and practices.
- Lead by example in writing clean, testable, and effective code.
- Work with world-leading experts in target tracking and data fusion
What You Bring
- Experience with using techniques such as Kalman filtering, extended Kalman filtering, unscented Kalman filtering, particle filtering, ideas related to Bayesian inference.
- Fluency in mathematics and experience with developing Python and C applications to translate these ideas into reality.
- Demonstrated ability to work well in a team of experts and possess excellent engineering communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to develop engineering solutions independently and collaboratively on large projects.
- A commitment to continuous learning and improvement in a rapidly evolving landscape.
