About This Role

Axsome Therapeutics is seeking an Associate Director, Patient Services to help drive Axsome’s Patient Service Program efforts, ensuring patients have affordable access to the Company’s innovative medicines. The Associate Director, Patient Services will drive Axsome’s patient service programs by removing barriers to patient access and reimbursement while ensuring appropriate value is maintained for Axsome Therapeutics’ portfolio of products. This position will collaborate cross functionally with Trade, Distribution, Field Access and other Patient Service functions to develop and execute strategies in support of the overall Market Access vision. This position will also support the development of a broad patient service marketing strategy and the development of related materials. This role reports directly to the Director, Patient Services.

This role is based at Axsome’s HQ in New York City with an on-site requirement of at least three days per week. We are unable to consider candidates who are looking for fully remote roles.

Job Responsibilities and Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Identify opportunities for continuous process improvement throughout the Patient Access & Reimbursement Journey
  • Identify process bottlenecks, quality measures and consistency across the Patient Access Journey
  • Analyze program data/insights to drive opportunities for improvements and efficiencies in close collaboration with internal teams
  • Apply basic consulting skills, including consultative listening, problem definition, hypothesis generation, data analysis, translation to value, and oral and written presentations
  • Work within a matrix environment and establish and maintain relationships with commercial business partners in sales, market access, data/analytics, trade, and brand marketing teams
  • Oversee development of supporting materials for execution of strategies and initiatives in support of programs across the portfolio (e.g., brochures, training materials, program updates, organization messaging, etc.)
  • Collaborate with Field Reimbursement Managers and Market Access leadership on program needs across the portfolio
  • Respond to and resolve broader and complex escalated issues
  • Work with the Director, Patient Services to develop and manage overall program improvements across the portfolio
  • Manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, entrepreneurial environment, adapting to change as needed

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years of experience in Patient Service, Trade, Distribution, or other Market Access related activities within the biotech industry
  • Relevant experience in patient support programs and leading complex product launches within the patient support space Experience in managing complex and dynamic projects, programs, and teams
  • Ability to work on site Monday, Tuesday & Thursday. We are unable to consider candidates who are looking for fully remote roles

Experience, Knowledge And Skills

  • Analytical mindset and experience directing and managing activities that are critical to both the home office and field sales
  • Strong understanding of industry trends in the pharmaceutical patient services landscape
  • A problem-solving mindset with demonstrated “lean-forward” approach and ability to think critically
  • Previous product launch experience, preferably in the CNS space
  • Familiarity with current legal and regulatory landscape pertinent to the industry
  • Strong planning and organization skills, attention to detail, execution, and follow-through
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a hybrid environment
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills
  • Ability to influence decision makers and educate variety of internal audiences on complex concepts
  • A problem-solving mindset with demonstrated “lean-forward” approach and ability to think critically

Salary And Benefits

The anticipated salary range for this role is $150,000 - $180,000. We encourage candidates of all levels to apply as there may be flexibility on final job title and responsibilities. The salary offer will be based on a variety of factors, including experience, qualifications, internal equity and location. Axsome offers a competitive employment package that includes an annual bonus, significant equity and a generous benefits package.
