What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance/Groundskeeper position at Ayer Shirley Regional High School?
The Custodian/Groundskeeper is responsible for keeping the buildings functional and grounds clean to ensure that all aspects of the indoor and outdoor facilities are safe, welcoming, and comfortable for students, staff, and the public.
Custodian responsibilities include:
- Performing minor building repairs and maintenance, including but not limited to light carpentry, minor plumbing repairs, heating and cooling system issues, painting, and light bulb replacement
- Sweeps, scrubs, and finishes floors
- Cleaning and disinfecting of kitchen and restrooms
- Moving, arranging, and adjusting furniture and equipment.
- Painting and general repairs
- Maintains electrical service and replaces light bulbs/fixtures.
- Other duties as assigned Groundskeeper responsibilities include: The Superintendent will appoint a qualified custodian to perform groundskeeping duties in addition to regular custodial responsibilities. All qualifications and responsibilities for a regular custodian will apply to this position, along with the following additional qualifications:
- Responsible for the ground upkeep at all four schools in the Ayer Shirley Regional School District
- Mowing and maintaining lawns, turf, and athletic fields
- Operating and maintaining power equipment safely and effectively
- Maintaining trees, shrubs, and flower beds
- Outdoor trash receptacles
- Clean up trash and debris in parking lots, on fields, and around buildings
- Snow removal
- Other duties as assigned **When it is not reasonable to perform grounds duties due to weather conditions or when it is determined by the facilities coordinator or management that other duties are more pressing, the maintenance/groundskeeper shall perform regular custodial tasks.
